Today is World Communion Sunday. Each year on the first Sunday in October, we are united with many churches all over the world as we share bread and wine, or juice, and participate in the holy meal as we hear the familiar story of the Last Supper.
This is a time to continue the work of God through our faith in Jesus Christ. We live the liturgy that transcends all our differences. In a world which seems fragmented, we reach out to connect, mend and make whole.
This year, may we enlarge our prayers and strengthen our faith so that others may be embraced, regardless of their faith or national origin. May they find light in the darkest corners and strength to work for healing and joy.
