October 16, 2025, is World Food Day and the 80th Anniversary of The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), whose enduring mission is to end hunger and build resilient agrifood systems across the globe.
The theme of World Food Day 2025 is Hand in Hand for Better Foods and a Better Future, calling for global collaboration in creating a peaceful, sustainable, prosperous, and food-secure future. By working together, across governments, organizations, sectors, and communities, we can transform agrifood systems to ensure that everyone has access to a healthy diet, living in harmony with the planet.
On Sunday, October 19, 2025, United Churches of Langley will offer a special worship service honouring the UN World Food Day. The Lunch & Learn will follow, with lunch of soup and a bun starting at 11:30 am. The presentations by speakers from our various ministry partners in Langley and table discussions aim to help our congregants and community members better understand who is being affected by food insecurity in Langley, why, what’s being done, and how we can help.
Lunch & Learn presenters:
We all have a role to play to realize the vision of a world without hunger and malnutrition. We can do our part to help provide access to healthy food and reduce food waste. Meeting the needs of a growing global population calls for governments, enterprises, and organizations to share their knowledge and support sustainable, resilient food systems and livelihoods. Together, we can grow, nourish, and sustain our world.
