Join community members again this year for our annual event on
National Day of Truth and Reconciliation - Monday, September 30
Derek Doubleday Arboretum in Langley

Starting at 3:00pm, there will be a story walk and community engagement booths - time for engaging with others in  (un)learning and learning, dialogue and contemplation.

At 6:00pm we will be called together by indigenous drummers for an honouring ceremony and speakers, followed by a candlelit walk led by our young drummers through the park to honour the children who have been found buried at residential schools, and those yet to be found.

This event is intended to:

Raise Awareness: Increase awareness about the significance of the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, acknowledging the historical injustices faced by Indigenous peoples.

Foster Unity: Create a platform for diverse communities to come together, promoting dialogue, understanding, and solidarity.

Educate and Reflect: Provide educational opportunities through a  learning story walk, discussions, and engagement booths to encourage reflection on the impact of historical events.

Community Engagement: Engage the local community in meaningful ways, encouraging active participation in reconciliation efforts through materials on the next steps to reconciliation.
