COLLECTING GLASSES

Did you know that your unwanted eyeglasses can help many people in third world countries?

A member of our congregation, Donna Phillips, collects reading, prescription and sunglasses and gives them to the Langley Lions Club. They check them, label prescriptions on them and when there is a significant number of glasses collected, a group of Eye Doctors takes them to a third world country where they are given to those in need.

A few weeks ago they were taken to Guatemala. When Donna’s son did this many years ago, he said it was so wonderful to see the look on people’s faces after they put on glasses and realized they could suddenly see so much better.

Thanks to all who have already given away their not-needed glasses. Donna continues to collect them, so please check your drawers and see if there are any glasses that you don’t use anymore that you could donate. Donna’s total number of collected glasses to date is 1692. If you don't see her at church you can put them in the plastic box on the shelf outside the office, or simply bring them to the church office.
