On Wednesday, April 10, we will start a new section on parables. We will begin with an introduction to parables, using some outrageous ideas from Robert Farrar Capon.  (Parables are meant to challenge, and to turn the world upside down and inside out. ) For this week,  you may want to read Matthew 13:44-50.  (these will be available at the meeting also).

Some ideas to consider:

  • What does "the Kingdom of Heaven" mean to you?  Is it different from the idea expressed in  Luke as "The Kingdom of God?"
  • What are the things you treasure?  What do you do with them?  Do you put the away, or use them daily?
  • What is your greatest treasure?  What is a treasure beyond cost?
  • How do we reconcile verses 49 and 50?

Come and be prepared to enjoy new ways of looking at some familiar passages.  After all, it's Easter, and anything is possible as new life springs forth!

In the next three sessions, we will have a story using the Godly Play method, and another from the point of view of a community of illiterate peasants.  We will talk about weddings, and grace, and if we add a few weeks, maybe second chances and things lost and found. Come and be part of the joy.
